I was inspired by the U.S.S. Kelvin in the JJ Abrams movie enough to try and make my own version of this ship by kit-bashing the saucer and neck from a 1/1000th scale refit Enterprise model onto the engine section from a re-popped TOS Enterprise. While these pieces worked, I still had to come up with a neck section for the upper saucer and second sensor hull. So I scratch-built this as best I could.

I painted the ship Baby Blue overall, with highlights in Sea Blue. Since it's not exactly the same as the Kelvin, I decided at the last minute not to call it that. I named it the Essex. I figure it's a sister ship, one that's slightly modified, or more advanced.
