The Battlestar Galactica Viper Fighter model from Moebius

By Sean Farrell

For the second Viper modelkit in my stash, I decided to build it in a far different manner. This would be a splash-down Viper, a fighter that got shot down during a battle. I tackled the figure.

Using the basic body from a 1/32 scale blank, I scuplted the fighter pilot's outfit. I used Apoxie putty for the clothing and hair. I decided that the pilot would be female.

Pictures of the finished battle-damaged Viper, floating in the ocean just as it's tipping over on the nose, and getting ready to sink. Maggie, aka "Magpie" already has the hatch open and is standing on the fuselage, trying to wave down a SAR Raptor that's flying nearby.

The "water" is made from Woodland Scenics Flex Paste, which was painted blue once it dried. Then I added WS Warer Effects on top of that to create the glittering wet look. The base itself is cut from three sheets of poster foam boards.

This diorama takes place during the First Cylon War, some forty years before the events of the TV show. Magpie is a pilot aboard the Battlestar Ajax.
